our story

It all began with a single question: how might we be able to strengthen youth volunteerism not just across Canada, but around the world?

The idea behind Pledges for Change came from Brennan’s volunteering experience in Ecuador with Free The Children in 2012. Although his volunteer group fell short of its goal of finishing a school building project during their stay, his group’s passion inspired the local community to come forward and pledge their support by calling a “minga”, which is the coming together of the community to collectively work towards a common goal. All the community members contribute even though they may not benefit directly from the effort; the common good is the overriding objective. This was a philosophy that needed to be shared with his fellow peers.

Volunteer

We, along with our network of nonprofit organizations, are always looking for young people to support our various programs and events. Make a difference in your community by donating your skills and time! Because no matter your age or location, we can all make a positive impact - whether that’s volunteering, fundraising or raising awareness around causes that matter.

Donate

Our ambitious mission to inspire a culture of youth-driven change within communities worldwide would not be possible without the support of individual donors. The generous support of people from around the world allow us to continue offering unique programs to young people globally.

Please support us as we continue to work towards our vision of a world where young people are empowered to be, and are recognized as, the innovators, problem-solvers, and change-makers our communities need.

Partner with us

With the help of our government, corporate, and not-for-profit partners, we have been able to reach thousands of young people across the country and around the world through our initiatives. Thank you to our global family of supporters for helping bring us one step closer to achieving our vision!

Interested in supporting one of our programs or projects? We are always looking for ways to accelerate our organization’s social impact with other community stakeholders.
